「Educational Session：軟部肉腫の分子診断から治療の選択まで」の共同座長・Serge Leyvraz氏に聞く
軟部肉腫に対する新たな分子診断法が，個別化治療を助ける重要な手段として注目されている。その最新の動きを「分子生物学と分子標的治療からみた病理診断」「組織学からみた化学療法」「分子標的治療」という3つの側面から概観する教育セッションが開かれ，多くの参加者の関心をよんだ。共同座長を務めたスイス・ローザンヌ大学病院総合癌センターのSerge Leyvraz氏に，セッション終了後，話を聞いた。（関 紗由里）

mTOR：哺乳類ラパマイシン標的タンパク質 （ラパマイシンの細胞内標的となるキナーゼ）。mammalian target of rapamycin の略
anti-angiogenic agent：血管新生阻害薬
Sarcoma：肉腫，サルコーマ
The topic is, first, this is a field that is moving very fast. As said, new tools, new biological tools, new molecular tools that helps us to define potential targets. The first targets are there, as presented by Hans-Jorg Senn.
Of course, this is now an old story, but there are new ones like the use of mTOR inhibitor, anti-angiogenic agent. So, this field is moving in that direction, which was also presented as that chemotherapy, is still a key player in sarcomas. This will define also better in which subtype it can be useful, in which subtype it should not be used because of toxicity and no activity.

Today’s session, where I’ve been mainly on sarcoma and melanoma, a very great session with a high level of discussion. People are not in Milan or for shopping. They are really here to learn something and there is a lot of things that are taught and said during these days too. We’ll see tomorrow.

Japanese oncologists are great, so I don’t have any advice to tell them because they are on the top of what is done these days.
So, no, I don’t really have an advice for them but that they are very good in doing large trials and bringing new ideas and new inputs in the field of oncology, so really they are good partners.
